Student feedback from mock interviews summaries 
  •  Students felt they needed more time to prepare 
    •  Next year we will utilize the JA Success Skills workshops along with the two-week class preparations. 
    •  Holding area to prep students for the interview to review skills
    •  Student mentor- Students who have had real interviews will work with other students
  •  Students felt they need more notice so they could dress more appropriately 
    •  Next time we will schedule the interviews later in the week so we have a few days to remind students of the date. 
    •  Class assignment where students have to take pictures of potential interview attire and as we discuss the dos and don'ts. 
    •    Provide them with clothing options
  •  Students wanted more feedback from interviewers 
    • request that interviews provide each student with feedback

  •  Teachers need to know if they will get content from JCTC for dual credit courses. 
  •  Teachers emailed a few people at JCTC to get info no response as of yet.

MOS Finals -Ruffin update
Finishing up with MOS testing; just did make-up testing for Word & Excel; students are currently working on PowerPoint. 
All MOS certified students will take the ASK test at the end of the year. 

Business Career Ready Celebration set May 23 during Viking Time
Ruffin sends out a list of names for teachers.

Set up all tables and chairs for the mock interviews tomorrow in the auditorium. 


All teachers were in the auditorium during PLC time. 

4/29/19 PLC

Agenda;

  • Location for Mock interviews has changed due to testing in the library
  • Possible new location auditorium: Auditorium, Classroom, Room 119
    • Decided on Auditorium
  • Ruffin will talk to Mrs. Currin about reserving auditorium and Mrs. Ashcraft about getting lunch. 
Potential logistics for Auditorium interviews
Hold students in the auditorium and have interviewers in the lobby area. 
  •  Students will be given a card with a number on it and they will sit with the interviewer that has that number.  
  • Interviews will last around 5 minutes
  • After the interview students will go back into the auditorium in the front area to complete their reflections. 

The remainder of PLC we worked on the following: 
  • Student interview reflections set up on Google Classroom for each class; Mrs. G will use paper copies 
  •  Printing out materials for interviewers (Sample questions, scoring rubric cards, and table numbers)

PLC 3/25/19

Sharon Kitchens from Junior Achievement came to speak with us about the Personal Finance Course
Guest speaker by the name of Mark Lynch is interested in teaching financial literacy students about personal finance.
Course details: 5 Lessons (45 minutes)
Other details

  •  Hosting a financial workshop for parents 
  • Comstock wants to schedule sessions as they fit into her lessons
  •  Ruffin is ready to have all five lessons taught

  •  Finance Park- High school students. We need to set up a field trip for next year

  •  Students did a great job managing their stations (NO ISSUES)

    •  Some freshman were rude & didn't participate

    • We want to do this for sophomores and incoming freshman next year.
