Ruffin & Grincuis will collaborate with the Freshman Academy teachers Slinde & Bingham to set up a day for Freshman students to explore the content in our business classes through interactive activities.

Logistics
March  27 & 28 All the freshman students will be escorted to the small gym.

Materials needed

•  A brochure outlining both pathways (Ruffin's MOS students)
•  Create invites for Freshman (Ruffin's MOS students) add group #'s 
•  Fact Sheets for each station- All students 
•  Create Khoots (Business trivia) (Mrs. G's students)
•  Student index cards

Ruffin will contact gym teachers to confirm gym for both days.

All courses will be performance based except for the following:

• Financial Literacy and all the "Programming  courses"

All teachers will fill out a performance-based request form for each of their courses.
Dual credit will be offered through JCTC for the following courses:

•  Business & Marketing essentials
•  Personal Finance

Potential dual credit courses 

• Entrepreneurship 
• Ethical Leadership

High school to business will be put on the back burner for now. We will discuss this pathway next year.

Setting up Advisory Meeting with Business guest (realtor).  Need a parent representative.   Find a date that doesn't conflict with senior defenses and other field trips.

Several companies reached out to set up apprentice management tracks (Taco Bell, McDonalds, Kroger) to hire our students.  This will correlate with our leadership class (Marketing and Business Principals - Ethical Leadership).  This will ensure the students are career ready if they work throughout the year and are training for management.   Transitioning them into management is good for the company, the student and the school.

This is very exciting information!!!  It also gives students more options for co-op.

Companies will need to be helped with the paperwork and they will need to choose 4 courses to support their apprenticeship track.

Courses need to be performance based in order to make the courses 1 credit per semester.  This would expedite their course completions. Each company needs to determine their 4 courses.  See Danny Clemens for helping with this paperwork for making the courses 1 credit per semester.

Students could be in the admin pathway and still be eligible for a track program.

We still have the Jefferson County apprenticeship.

Students can also take the Dual Credit through JCTC for Financial Literacy,  Marketing and Business Essentials.  Paid for by Fee Waiver as needed.

End of programs assessment is happening TODAY!  Last year 9 students took this assessment.  This year 61 students are testing.  Fantastic news.

• Con: Students still struggle passing this test
• Still discussing moving Digital Literacy

Our first draft of suggested course

Freshman: Career exploration & Business Communication 

Sophomore: Ethical Leadership & Digital Literacy (DC)

Junior: Business and Marketing Essentials (DC) & MOS

Senior: Personal Finance (DC) & Co-op

This means adding an additional class called ethical leadership. Questions about this course: 

How can we make it a performance-based course? (1 credit per semester)

KOSSA Prep course

Ruffin created a KOSSA prep course in Google classroom where all teachers will add KOSSA prep materials for all students taking the KOSSA (EOP) to access and study at their leisure.
